From Feb. 19 to 21, under the leadership of the College of Animal Science and Technology & Veterinary Medicine of HZAU (hereinafter abbreviated as CAST&VM), some leaders, experts and entrepreneurs arrived in Enshi Prefecture and Shennongjia Forestry District to further the " Jingchu Trip on Rural Revitalization", carrying out industrial research, technical services and technological achievements commercialization to the local breeding of beef cattle, mutton sheep and black pig.
The participants of this trip include He Nianhua (an official from the Hubei Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs), Liu Xingbin, (Secretary of Party Committee of CAST&VM), Zhou Yongshun, (Vice Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group), Huang Yiqun, (Director of Shennongjia Science and Technology Innovation Center of HZAU), and the local leaders Yang Shengliao, Hong Jiajin and Yang Feng.
Upon arriving in Badong (a county affiliated to Enshi Prefecture) on the morning of Feb. 19, the researchers from the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, CAST&VM, Shennongjia Forestry District, CP Group and other organizations straightly went to the beef cattle and black pig farms owned by local enterprises and cooperatives, and conducted detailed research in the whole breeding process, giving technical guidance and answers to these owners. In the afternoon, the representatives participated in the Enshi Prefecture panel discussion on the development of herbivore husbandry. In terms of this industry’s future, the participants put forward many suggestions from the aspects of planning, structure adjustment, development and utilization of improved varieties, scientific and technological talents, demonstration and commercialization of technological achievements, policy support, rural revitalization and farmers' well-being.
On the morning of Feb. 20, researchers from CAST&VM and CP Group arrived at Shennongjia Forestry District, conducted on-site investigation and provided guidance to the local breeding farms, companies and cooperatives. In the afternoon, they attended the Shennongjia panel discussion on the development of black pig industry. At the meeting, Prof. Liu Bang from the CAST&VM delivered a report on "High-quality Black Pig Breeding, a Road to Rural Revitalization". Based on the district’s regional characteristics and population resources, the participants discussed and exchanged views on the improved varieties selection, breeding mode and direction, prevention and control of biosecurity risks, construction of technical service system, policy support, etc.
On the morning of Feb. 21, the CAST&VM working group visited Shennongjia Science and Technology Innovation Center and related bases, and exchanged views on their further cooperation with the district, including scientific and technological services, technological achievements commercialization, teachers and students' practice and talent training.
